Our Mission
The Vision of No Place Like Home is to build an age-friendly community that helps older adults thrive in their homes and neighborhoods, while they remain engaged and valued. The Mission of No Place Like Home is to help older adults live in their own homes as long as they wish.
what we do
We address needs that older adults in our community have identified through our outreach, focus groups, community meetings and consultations. We currently help older adults with small chores and maintenance at their homes, offer medical equipment from our loan closet for short-term and long-term use, and act as a back-up resource for local rides when the Kennector program is unavailable to assist. Please call (207) 558-2270 or email nplhmaine@gmail.com for assistance.
At no cost, the volunteers at No Place Like Home will:
Assist with small jobs and perform small repairs around your home, such as:
Change lightbulbs
Raise and lower storm windows
Install grab bars
Check, change batteries or install smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors
Check and change air conditioning filters
Move furniture
Do small weatherizing projects
Small tasks to improve house safety
Other tasks as able
Provide rides to non-medical appointments within our community only if the Kennector is unavailable to assist. Local ride examples include:
Barber shop and hair salon
Banks
Grocery store or pick up of Hannaford-To-Go orders
Library
Post Office
Provide medical equipment, such as:
Bed rails
Canes
Commodes
Crutches
Grab bars
Rollators
Shower chairs, stools and transfer benches
Walkers
Wheelchairs
In addition to the Kennector, the FISH program through the The Center provides medical rides to those at no cost and membership is not required. Call (207) 967-8514, or email carol@seniorcenterkennebunk.org to schedule a medical ride.
In season Habitat for Humanity York County offers weatherizing services. Contact Alana Shapiro at 985-4850.
“Our older adults deserve to live out there lives in their homes in the communities they helped to build. They are such a valued part of our community. I invite you to help us, as we help them.”
